Hummer is gonna be back
The giant was heavily
beaten down by patriarchal General Motors, the giant American car 61%
owned by the Government of the United States.
Favored former Moscow
money and the wheels, once favored by California Governor Arnold
Schwarzenegger, was hit by a double whammy of tighter belts in some of
its markets and a drastic change in public opinion in others.
Big gas guzzlers are
increasingly shunned by economical, environmentally conscious, or just
fashion conscious gamblers who resize modes.
As a symbol of
conspicuous consumption, or a lack of respect for the environment, the
Hummer owners look is definitely in touch with the current mood of the
audience.
It seems that even the
Chinese authorities are clear indications of the beast.
"The proposal of the
Hummer brand will go against the strategic lines of the Chinese
government, especially those lacking for energy-efficient vehicles to
produce," said Klaus Paur, director for North Asia for the market
research company TNS.
This may go some way to
explain why a Chinese company from Sichuan Tengzhong heavy industrial
machinery, pulled the plug on an agreement to purchase the brand, which
has failed approval from regulatory authorities in China to obtain.
The Hummer is without
doubt the most aggressive vehicle, and it is not surprising given that
the original H1, which launched 18 years ago, was based on a U.S.
military Humvee vehicle.
Later versions were less
macho, but only marginally so. His appearance butch have
been crucial for the brand.
